Essentials
  • Water (more than you think)
  • Hat + polarized sunglasses
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • Phone with offline copy of this dossier
  • Snack / electrolytes
  • Trash bag — leave it cleaner than you found it

  • Sifter + folding shovel
  • Wading shoes

Tactic refresher

Walk spillway gravels and recent runoff fans after storms. Search both the coarse lag and any freshly weathered shale chips at the base of cuts.

Don't forget

Casual collecting in public recreation zones is generally allowed. Do not disturb archaeological sites or collect from posted protected areas.
