Essentials
  • Water (more than you think)
  • Hat + polarized sunglasses
  • Reef-safe sunscreen
  • Phone with offline copy of this dossier
  • Snack / electrolytes
  • Trash bag — leave it cleaner than you found it

  • Sifter + folding shovel
  • Wading shoes
  • Fanny pack or hip pouch for finds
  • Small magnet for testing iron-rich matrix
Find care

Tactic refresher

Wade slowly, screen gravel bars, and inspect the downstream edge of shell and phosphate pockets after rain resets the creek.

Don't forget

Casual collecting in public access areas is generally allowed. Stay out of posted private banks and avoid undercutting the creek.
